In April 2008, we purchased a circa 1775 home in Lancaster, MA – known historically as the Joseph Maynard House.
The antique cape and attached barn were in need of a total renovation – from top to bottom.
This blog chronicles The Joseph Maynard Project through every step of process – through commentary and photos. We welcome you to read and comment as we continue on this journey.

We always make an effort to drive home from Hannaford's "the back way" (route 62). This is so we can check the progress on your old house. It's an enormous amount of work and a daunting project, but you've already done an amazing job. I wish we had an extra, big piece of flat fieldstone to give you to replace the one that was stolen. That offense was particularly cruel.
You really gotta love old houses... we know, we live in one!
